Masuleh
is a breathtakingly beautiful village
located in the Talesh mountains.
Although Masuleh is close to the Caspian
Sea, it is 1050 meter above sea level.
The
interesting about Masuleh are the
streets. The village is so steep, they
had to make the streets on top op the
flat roofs of the houses below. Of
course, it is impossible to enter
Masuleh with a car. Maybe this is the
reason why the original atmosphere of
the villages has survived.
The
interesting street plan and the pleasant
climate attract a lot of tourist to
Masuleh in summer. Most of them are on a
daytrip from Tehran. When you walk in the
village, you'll see less and less
tourists when you climb further up. When
you've almost reached the end, you meet
people who are very surprised to see a
foreigner in their streets.
Here you
can see this street is actually on top
of the roof of the houses below. Let's
hope they made it strong enough.
There
are a lot of shops in Masuleh. We could
buy all sorts of things to eat, so we
decided to have a picknick instead of
having lunch in some restaurant.
This baker
was complaining about the tourists:
"Everybody wants to make a picture of my
bakery, but nobody ever sends me a
copy". We hope he likes the copy we sent
him. And... we hope he doesn't mind his
bakery is on the Internet now.
